AUSTIN (KXAN)– After greater than a years of supplying beverages and live songs, the Skylark Lounge is shutting its doors.
Austinites Johny LaTouf and Mary LaTouf initially opened up bench and songs place in East Austin back in 2013.
Since they remain in their 60s, Johnny and Mary prepare to shut this phase of their lives, according to a launch from the place.
The Skylark Lounge highlighted older blues and spirit artists, that mentored the future generation of musicians throughout the years.
It held musicians like Blues Kid Hubbard, a participant of the Texas Songs Hall of Popularity, and the late Margaret White, recognized in the Austin Songs Hall of Popularity. In 2022, Yelp called the Skylark Lounge the most effective dive bar in Texas.
To note completion of 12 years in company, the Skylark Lounge is organizing 5 nights of efficiencies, beginning Wednesday. Reveals begin at 6 p.m. each night at 2039 Airport terminal Blvd. The last efficiency is established for 8 p.m. on Sunday, Might 4, including neighborhood blues musician Spirit Guy Sam, a routine at the place.
